TuneUp Utilities 2012 promete ahorrarnos hasta 30% en el consumo de batería

TuneUp Utilities 2012, el software de optimización de PC’s, se está preparando para dar a PC’s y portátiles, una doble inyección de rendimiento. El eficiente enfoque del Modo Ahorro en la gestión de energía  permite aumentar la vida útil de la batería hasta en un 30%, mientras que  la  función start-stop automática  de  Program Deactivator reduce la carga generada en los PC’s por los programas, haciendo que se trabaje más rápido y aceleren los tiempos de inicio de Windows.

Sam Harris y la doble moral de Dios

Sam Harris es un reconocido ateo, famoso en todo el mundo. A mi juicio, es una persona bastante locuaz y persuasiva. Me gusta como argumenta y el tono frio y calculador con que lo hace. Alguna vez he enlazado aquí videos suyos. Recordad el de "Cuando te veo, veo que en ti vive Elvis", por ejemplo.

Este fragmento que os traigo hoy pertenece a un debate -que en breve colgaré- entre ateos, agnósticos y cristianos. En él, aparece Sam Harris hablando sobre la doble moral o el doble rasero de los religiosos y de Dios. Ya sabéis, aquello de que si ocurre algo bueno o quien sea es favorecido con algo, es "gracias a Dios" y "Dios es bondadoso". Pero si por el contrario, alguien sufre daño o tan solo vemos las terroríficas condiciones en las que viven millones de niños en el mundo, esto, claro está, es porque "Dios es misterioso" o "Dios tiene un plan".

Sam Harris mete sal en la herida de la doble moral, y con muchas ganas. No os perdáis el video, porque aparte de ser instructivo es literalmente demoledor con las religiones.

Yo ya te lo dije

James Randi desafía a la homeopatía

No hace falta presentar a James Randi. Azote de vendedores de misterios, ilusionista, escéptico, batallador sin tregua. Un gran hombre en defensa del pensamiento racional.

En este video explica un poco por encima lo que es la homeopatía y lanza un reto a los homeópatas:

PROBAD QUE FUNCIONA.

Es sencillo.

Si ganáis el cheque de un millón de dólares, lo podéis donar a alguna ONG con lo que matareis dos pájaros de un tiro: cerrar la boca a esos malvados escépticos que trabajan para las farmacéuticas y ayudar a los más desfavorecidos.

¿A qué esperáis?

Por otra parte, James nos habla de otra campaña. Se trata de conseguir las firmas necesarias (parece ser que la Fundación Educacional James Randi pretende que sean 5000) para enviar a las farmacéuticas y pedir que se etiqueten los productos homeopáticos tal que así:

Your customers deserve to know the truth about the products you sell. So-called homeopathic remedies often have no active ingredients; homeopathy has been shown not to work any better than a placebo; and homeopathic products are not tested or approved by any U.S. health agency.

Many people who buy homeopathic products are shocked to learn that they aren't tested and are based on ridiculous ideas that have been disproven by science.
